      Note

Some Harley-Davidson® luggage is made of leather. Fine leathers or other natural materials WILL gain "character," such as wrinkles or wear, with age. This is normal. A fine, aged patina and character wrinkles are a sign of the extremely high quality materials used to construct your luggage. The appearance of scars or marks on the leather are a result of using natural leather panels and should not be thought of as an imperfection. Bar & Shield Leather Saddlebags is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointing and misleading. Leather, but more plastic than Cow! Okay, I do not even know where to begin with the fact that these $700 bags (after tax) are now on my bike. But here goes... The reflectors you see...not on there. They come as a glue on addition and frankly look much better without so forget you are even seeing them. Next, the bags are beyond rigid and some of these say "distressed" but they look brand new. I was extremely dissatisfied with mine as far as finish because they look so new you are not sure if you should clean them every day or begin to get out the sandpaper to make them look worn. Rigidity. Wow. These have little give not only in the overall construction but in the fore/aft snaps and the straps. STRAPS! Ok, what you see is not what you get. You get "straps" that buckle? Yes, this is really a mirage of the old days. The straps you see cover a "backpack" type buckle that snaps into place. An issue arises from this two fold. The first one is obvious, there is not much adjusting you can do. It is either one hole or the other, and if you pack enough to raise the bag contents a little bit, say 2 sweatshirts and some gear - forget it, they will not close. What I am saying is that they have to be flat to close or you will be stuck adjusting them. The fore and aft snaps. Very important buggers these snaps. Why? When you get a head wind of 15 mph, you want those snaps on. You cannot see them well from the picture but believe me these will me chattering if you do not snap them on. So, once again, if the top is not dead flat, you cannot snap them. You get one snap choice, one snap location and that is it. Materials: Eh. HD leather, whatever that means. They look nice, they are custom to fit around rear springs but keep in mind you have to add the relocation (turn signal) kit and installation and that's about $150 more. These bags are now at $850 unless you do it yourself.... So, my conclusion - these are very expensive, require you to stay within the guides, the straps are not quite as they appear, the insides are almost all plastic and not leather, there is room but not tons and overall construction is okay, not great. They work well for a passenger's legs and do not make noise or move during 70-80-mph travel, but keep those snaps on. Realistically, these are overrated and overpriced. I have them, but regret putting them on.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good quality and looks The quality of these bags is very good. The cut out for the shocks blends them into the bike very well. No problems installing them myself. Relocating the turn signals took much longer and I did not need any special tools as indicated with the instructions.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Awesome Bags! Just had these installed and they fit perfectly and look great on my Fat Bob! The only reason I gave a four star rating is based on how the side reflectors are to be installed. The directions call for drilling holes in the bags to mount these items. No way will I drill holes in such a nice product! The HD design team needs to come up with a better method for attachment. Also, I didn't need to remove my rear axle covers (Willie G Skull Collection) as stated in the Parts and Accessories Catalog. I have ample clearance between the bottom of the bags and the covers.
