H-D Detachables Solo Tour-Pak Mounting Rack is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sturdy and well made Bought this detachable solo tour-pak rack to use along with a solo saddle I just purchased. I'm keeping the 2-up detachable tour-pak rack and the stock saddle in case I ever do any 2-up touring in the future. This is a solid and sturdy rack and does exactly what it was designed to do. One very small complaint: I was hoping that if I put a back rest pad on the front of the tour-pak, and then moved it forward as far as I could, that I could avoid having to use a separate rider back rest. That is, the tour-pak's back rest pad would serve that purpose. Nope, doesn't come forward far enough unless you like to lean way, way back when you're riding. But for me, and probably for most folks, I still need a separate rider back rest. So, if that's what you have in mind with this purchase, suggest you look for an alternative solution.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Solo Riding Backrest II I, too, mounted the HD Chopped Tour-Pak with the backrest pad to a HD Detachables Solo Tour-Pak Mounting Rack, which, in turn, attached to a HD 4-Point Docking Harware Kit. Once all this was installed by my HD dealership service department, who claimed the configuration would work as a solo rider backrest, I have to lean back so far to make contact with the backrest that my hands fall far short of reaching the handgrips (I am 5'11", 195#, with a 34" sleeve). Harley, what happened? Why isn't this working out the way I envisioned it would/should?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solo Riding backrest This mount works by moving the tour pak closer to the rider. The front of the rack mounts to the shock mounts. I have the Chopped Tour pak and the backrest touches my back a little higher than a standard rider backrest.

      Q & A

Will this get in the way of opening my saddlebags and can you mount a sissy bar simotainiously?

Looking to mount a Medium pet carrier and would like to have the mounting rack and sissy bar at the same time for additional mounting

do saddlebag lids "contact" the bottom of solo tour pak when opening/closing for 2014 and up tour bikes

      Asked by: ezhawg
ezhawg, I can only answer this question from my own experience installing a Chopped Tour-Pak on my 2015 Road King. According to this website, "Chopped Tour-Pak® requires separate purchase of Tour-Pak® Spacer Kit P/N 53000461" which, again from experience, you can only get from your dealership. The spacer kit elevates the Chopped Tour-Pak about 3/4" to allow the saddlebag doors to open and close freely. Otherwise, there will be contact between the two.

Will this work as a solo-rider backrest on my 2015 Road King?

In regards to the question posted by Stiffback, and the answer "If you have a chopped tour-pak, I do show you will need a tour-pak spacer kit: 53000461," why can I not find this part on the HD website?
      Asked by: Oakie59
Hello Oakie59, PN 53000461 is only available through your local dealer for purchased and is not listed on the Online store. Thank you for your question!

I read in the last question about a spacer kit, is this needed for a 2015 CVO Street glide.

It seems to not slide on as smooth as the luggage rack does.
      Asked by: mrambo4
Hello Mrambo4, This rack is for a Solo seat, so if you already have a solo seat on your bike, this will work with the docking hardware you currently have. Thank You!

Do I need a solo seat?

I have a 2014 Street Glide Special. Do I need to have a solo seat or is this designed to fit over the passenger seat of my Sundowner seat?
      Asked by: DB1961
Hi DB1961, To use this H-D Detachables Solo Tour-Pak Mounting Rack, you would need to use a solo seat. A two-up seat is not compatible with this mounting rack. Thank you for your question.
