H-D Special Purpose Grease is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Lube This is a great lube that holds up to high temperatures unlike some auto store lubes I have used.

    Q & A

    '03 Springer fitment?

In the info section it states that, this is Not for use on Springer head bearings but, in the bike's that it will work for in the "Fitment" section it says it "will" work. My service manual states use part #99857-97.

The short answer is probably. The manual for my 97 FXSTS says use special purpose grease part number 99857-97. This stuff above is part number 99857-97A. There is no other grease available from Harley especially for Springers to my knowledge. The parts guys at my local dealership were confused about this when I asked them. I think it's a typo. What else are you going to do, use car wheel bearing grease? Harley should correct this.

my service manual calls for part # 99857-97. I can only find 99857-97a and this does not list that it is good for a 09 road king. what to use?
