Speed-Check Transmission Dipstick is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 24.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Speed-Check Tranny Dipstick I just changed my Transmission Oil with Genuine HD Formula + Lubricants and just hated the Hex Head bolt dip stick that came stock with the bike. Now, no tools required to check Transmission levels . . . However, on a Softail Deluxe there is not much room to get your fingers around the dipstick. At any rate, it does look great and the Bar & Shield insert goes on with a 3M adhesive tape that is pre-stalled on the insert piece. Screw in the Dipstick first and get it snug before you add the insert so it lines up like you want it to. Highly recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Alot better to look at! This looks better than the stock allen head that the bike comes with....shows that the bike has some kauhana's now!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Speed-Check Transmission Dipstick I recently purchased Harley-Davidson's Speed-Check Transmission Dipstick for my 2016 Ultra Limited for two reasons. First, it makes checking the transmission oil level much easier because you don't have to use an Allen wrench to remove the dipstick, and second, it looks really cool with the bar and shield logo. I plan on purchasing the Oil Level & Temperature Dipstick - Lighted LCD Readout next so that I have two dipsticks that look like they belong together. I am going to wait to install the bar and shield logo until I have the new oil dipstick so that I can make sure the bar and shield logo is orientated the same direction as the oil dipstick. Easy installation. As others have said . . . why isn't this a standard issue part on touring bikes. It would not add that much to the baseline price.

What is the proper way to check the tranny fluid with this new dipstick?

For example, check hot? Upright? Fluid should be between two lines?
    Asked by: dmarkturner
Hi Dmarkturner, You would check the fluid with the Speed-Check Transmission Dipstick the same way you would you would check the stock transmission dipstick. The 2010 Touring Service Manual states: The transmission lubricant level should be checked monthly. The transmission should be drained and refilled with fresh lubricant at specified intervals. NOTE When checking the transmission lubricant level, the motorcycle should be leaning on the jiffy stand. If the motorcycle was recently moved or ridden, allow a short period of time to equalize lubricant level in the transmission compartments. Check Lubricant Level 1. Park motorcycle on its jiffy stand. 2. Remove the filler plug/dipstick and wipe off dipstick. 3. Place back in filler hole but do not thread in. (Filler plug/dipstick should rest on top of threaded hole.) Remove filler plug/dipstick and observe lubricant level. Level should be between the full and low marks on the dipstick.
