Sundowner Seat is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 18.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointed and frustrated Please keep in mind this review comes after one 2-hour ride. I have been riding with the stock seat on my ‘07 1200 custom since I bought it new and my passenger (girlfriend) has been asking for a seat upgrade, as the passenger pad is too small for longer rides. Installing was easy, just needed to remove the sissy-bar pad. The fit was slightly loose, like other have commented here. While my passenger loved the extra padding and a wider seat, I found my seat massively uncomfortable. I thought I would be sitting on a cloud, but it felt more like riding a fence post. Putting it as delicately as possible, contact points shifted from my hind quarters with the stock seat, to my undercarriage with the sundowner seat. I was sliding more into the tank, and had more pressure on my feet and hands. While I am not sure if I will try to return the seat, I can guarantee I will be putting my stock seat back on this weekend for a solo ride. Maybe I just need to break it in?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Big nice upgrade from stock. A friend of mine had this on his ‘09 Street Glide and swore by it. I’ve always had aftermarket seats from major brands on my other bikes. After buying a brand new bike a few weeks ago and riding around a few hundred miles, I finally decided after reading reviews to bite the bullet and buy it. I’m so glad I did! Very comfortable seat upgrade from the stock seat on my 2017 Street Glide special. Everyone said it would change the rider position and they were right. It moves you slightly forward maybe a half inch and raises you about an inch. It’s noticeable when you first sit on it but after 10 miles I was very comfortable with it. My wife is very pleased how comfortable the passenger seat it. Bottom line if you are doing casual riding with a long ride every now and then, or if you’re doing hundreds of miles a day, you can’t go wrong with the Sundowner. Definitely makes longer rides manageable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sundowner is a great seat... 2009 XL1200C The seat works and feels great.... One slight modification to the front lug if the seat is to loose. 1/4" self adhesive felt pad cut to fit the top and bottom of the front lug, reinstall seat and most of the play is gone, also seats locks just fine. Well worth the money for sure. Looks great on my bike as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfortable over stock seat I purchased this seat for my 1200C for the longer in the saddle days, it was night and day over the stock saddle for longer rides & added a little height. One great thing is that in a few seconds you can throw on the stock seat for the local rides. But the Sundowner seat is made so nice and can get you miles on a Sporty with so much more comfort.

    Q & A

    Sundowner seat firmament

I'm trying figure out if this seat would fit my 2016 sportster xl1200x what the mounting measurements also. Thanks

I have a 2008 883xl custom- the electronics/fuse box are mounted on the rear fender under the seat, will this seat work? (not sure if routine place)

    Asked by: sarahjb3
This Sundowner seat is supposed to fit your model and year of course on a stock machine. I installed it on my 2007 1200C and it fit like a glove, I have the Badlander seat for my 883 and it is a great fit also. Good luck and safe riding! Ken

How much lift can I expect from this seat vs stock.

I have an 07 Sportster 1200L and feel a little cramped on the stock seat with mid controls. Am hoping that if this will raise me a couple of inches, I may not need to go with forward controls.
    Asked by: Kimbo
Your stock machine's seat is approximately 26.3" and the Sundowner saddle might add an inch of height due to its thickness and comfort. I would suggest looking into also a forward control kit for your bike if you are tall. My 2007 1200C has the stock forward mount which is great for my 6'4" height, and with the added Sundowner saddle I was very comfortable on longer trips. Good luck on your decision and have a safe riding season this year. Ken

Yes, you can still check the oil. It does not interfere with the seat.

    fits loose.

recently purchased the seat and have been riding with it on the bike. i never really noticed till the other day i wiggled the seat and its real loose. it is secure and mounted properly but is still very loose. its not snug where it slides in in the front or on the post. i have a 2008 sportster 1200xl custom. is there anything i can do to make it fit better?

I have an 2009 XL1200C, my Sundowner just installed was also loose, after looking at it closely, I just used 1/4" self adhesive felt pad cut to size and placed on the top and bottom of the front mounting lug, and reinstalled the seat. It took a lot of the play out of the seat, and was more stable. Either way it does lock as it should.
