great addition
very easy to install , they go great with my hard bag lower rails. make sure you don't test fit them without tape on the mounting points , or risk scratching the paint . Im very happy with mine they follow and accent the bags lid lines ,

Looks great and saves the paint
I purchased this with the idea that if a passenger put a foot on my saddlebags they might scratch the paint. Not only does the rail stop that from happening, the rails give the saddlebags an extra look of chrome.

Why could lid rails not be mounted on leather covered hard bags
I was thinking that the lid rails would protect the top surface of the bags getting on and off the bike.

The leather saddlebags are shaped differently than the hard saddlebags. That is one of the reasons they are not listed as a fitment.
